EXCLUSIVE Carly Rae Jepsen Won't Let Fear 'Get in the Way' After Christina Grimmie Shooting
The 'Call Me Maybe' singer tells ET she will continue to hold meet and greets, and reflected on performing at L.A. Pride just hours after the Pulse Nightclub tragedy that left 49 people dead.
Carly Rae Jepsen will not live in fear.
The Emotion singer opened up to ET at a For Your Consideration event for Grease: Live! in Los Angeles, explaining why tragic events like the Orlando massacre and the murder of former Voice constestant Christina Grimmie have not stopped her from connecting with her fans.
"You can't let fear win in those situations," the 30-year-old singer said. "There's always gonna be some people that you don't understand in the world, who can do horrible things, but I think there is forevermore good."
As the full scope of the Orlando massacre -- the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history -- was coming to light, Jepsen took the stage at L.A. Pride on Sunday night, where members of the LGBTQ community came together to grieve and support each other as one.
"L.A. Pride... was a really heavy one for us with everything that happened," Jepsen admits. "But we were determined to go, and the moment we were together and singing as a group and not letting fear get in the way, it felt like the strongest, healthiest decision."
"I think it was a beautiful night for that reason," the singer added.
