After years of trying to sound modern, Bowie simply decided to give up the fight and focus on putting together a collection of great songs for his 1999 LP, ...Hours. The cover shows a young Bowie cradling the old Bowie, almost as if the man who made all those great albums in the 1970s was a different person. Lead single "Thursday's Child" (which took its title from a line in Eartha Kitt's autobiography) was a clear sign he was back in fine form, and when he hit the road to support it he was playing the hits again.
